The GSA modernized the J. Caleb Boggs Federal Building over a
three year period. There are were dozen projects developed for
building systems (mechanical, electrical, energy savings,
elevators, facade and exterior) or for space renovations
(Circuit Library, District Courtrooms, Judge’s Chambers, and
District Clerk’s Office).
Bertino & Associates Personnel provided Management Services
to oversee construction and coordinate all of the projects. The
services include inspection and documentation, cost and schedule
control, preparation of change orders and progress payments,
review of submittals and response to contractors’ requests for
information. The duties also included maintaining a database of
security clearance applications and controls badges for
construction personnel on the projects.
Bertino & Associates personnel oversaw the on-site staff
consisting of a Project Manager, inspectors and other technical
support. These persons managed all construction activities
within the Boggs Building and implemented communications with
the building tenants. They also assisted the GSA with planning
studies and design review.
Construction began in March 2002 and continued through 2005.
