New Jersey School Construction Corporation, SCC Jersey City,
NJ
Service:
Program Management and Construction Management
Client:
New Jersey School Construction Corporation
Total Program:
$1.5 billion-75 Schools
Budget Amount: Jersey City:
$950 million
The work is part of the NJEDA’s multibillion-dollar Regional
Schools Facilities Program. The program involves the design,
renovation, repair, and new construction of primary and
secondary public schools throughout New Jersey. School
improvements in the state have been mandated by a New Jersey
Supreme Court decision, Abbott vs. Burke, which required the
state to ensure poor school districts receive priority funding
to help ensure the children within these districts receive the
same opportunities as the children within more affluent
districts.
A Bertino & Associates employee oversaw personnel providing
project management and construction management services for $1.5
Billion worth of school construction over three contracts and
five years. Jersey City is the largest program with 31 new
schools, 31 additions/major renovations and 27 health and safety
improvements.
The staff provided comprehensive program and construction
management services including pre-design, design management,
construction management, site acquisition management,
geographical information services (GIS), RFP and Scope
Development, design guidelines development and PLA management
and closeout services. The inventory of schools includes early
childhood centers, K-5 and K-8 elementary schools, middle
schools, high schools and specialty schools. |
