Bertino & Associates Personnel oversaw the team selected by
the School District of Philadelphia (SDP) for their
comprehensive $1.5 billion capital improvement program spanning
fiscal years 2003 through 2007.
There are four major components to the program:
Construction of at least 10 new high schools, each with
enrollments between 800 and 1000 students
Construction of eight new elementary schools, each serving
800-1000 students, and construction of five additions or
annexes.
Major renovations at numerous facilities including roofs,
facades, windows, exterior/interior doors, science and
multimedia center upgrades, MEP upgrades and food service areas.
Major renovations necessary for conversion of several
facilities to different grade configurations
Responsibilities include:
Program and project management for the 5-year capital
improvement program
Development of a uniform cost and schedule tracking system
Development of safety standards for the school district
Master architect services including developing space and design
guidelines
Validating the 5-year master plan
Delivering transfer packages including 10% conceptual design for
all schools
Management of the comprehensive city-wide facilities’
assessments
Design review validation
The plan repairs existing buildings, replace old high schools
with sophisticated facilities that will accommodate
state-of-the-art curriculum models and exemplary programs.
The Capital Improvement Plan also makes significant life
safety improvements in school buildings. |
