PATCO Station Rehabilitation Camden County, NJ; Philadelphia, PA
Service:
Construction Monitoring Services
Client:
Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA)
This project was the first major rehabilitation program for
the station facilities portion of the Port Authority Transit
Corporation’s (PATCO) 32 year old rail line. Since its opening
in 1969 it has carried an ever increasing number of passengers,
now exceeding a daily total of 38,000. The system is made up of
13 stations (9 in New Jersey and 4 in Philadelphia, PA),
including the West Headhouse Transit Center in at Broadway
Station in Camden. PATCO’s trains are in operation and carrying
passengers over its 14.2 miles of track 24 hours a day, seven
days a week.
Each station on the line was rehabilitated, as necessary,
from the sidewalks outside, to the roofs over the platforms. New
station flooring, new platform lighting, the upgrade of the
electrical and HVAC systems, escalator replacement, painting and
new signage are a few of the major facets of this extensive
enhancement project.
The Team’s Construction Monitoring Services included on-site
inspection and documentation, cost and schedule control,
preparation of change orders and progress payments, coordination
of shop drawing reviews, review of certified payrolls and
responses to Contractor’s requests for information. The team was
also responsible for conducting the bi-weekly project control
meetings, preparing meeting minutes and responding to all
Contractor correspondence.
The Delaware River Port Authority is a bi-state agency of the
State of New Jersey and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It
owns and operates four major toll bridge crossings of the
Delaware River along with the PATCO commuter rail system. |
