Walt Whitman Bridge Rehabilitation
Section 4, Camden, New Jersey
Service:
Construction Monitoring Services
Client:
Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA)
Through a series of studies and investigations, the
Delaware River Port Authority identified elements of the
Walt Whitman bridge facility that required
rehabilitation and/or upgrading and developed a program
of improvements.
|
|
The intent of this
program was to rehabilitate the concrete deck on the Walt
Whitman Bridge and the associated ramp bridges, enhance the
operational and safety features of the facility and affect
improvements to accommodate the recently enacted One-Way toll
system. The team provided complete Construction Monitoring
Services for the last section of the separate construction
contracts, Contract WW-02-2001(R). Construction included the
reconstruction of the ramps and roadways which link the Walt
Whitman Bridge with I-676, U.S. Route 130 and U.S. Route 168.
|
|
The Team’s Construction Monitoring Services included all
on-site inspection and documentation, cost and schedule control,
preparation of change orders and progress payments, coordination
of shop drawing reviews, review of certified payrolls and
response to Contractor’s requests for information. The team was
also responsible for conducting the bi-weekly project control
meetings, preparing meeting minutes and responding to all
Contractor correspondence.
The Delaware River Port Authority is a bi-state agency of the
State of New Jersey and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It
owns and operates four major toll bridge crossings of the
Delaware River, including the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, Walt
Whitman Bridge, Commodore Barry Bridge and Betsy Ross Bridge. |
